On the Ninth Day
On the ninth day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me time to work through a stack of donation requests; a supper of delicious homemade bean soup enjoyed with friend, Gayle; and a rousing time of singing Gospel songs at the Gospel Jam held at North Clackamas Bible Church.
But wait!!!! How about the first eight days of Christmas?
Okay, you asked for it————————-
On the first day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me a lovely, quiet day full of holiday music; decorations accented with candle light; and the company of a good friend, Heidi Barz from Wisconsin. There were even small gifts under the small tree!
On the second day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me a safe drive to Seattle and a joy-filled reunion with Melanie. We enjoyed a Red Robin dinner followed by comfortable accommodations at the Sea-Tac Radisson Motel.
On the third day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me more time with Melanie, watching a really good movie, Song Sung Blue; a delicious Panera lunch; and a safe, pleasant, rain-free trip back to Portland.
On the fourth day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me an ordinary Sunday full of church, tutoring two delightful children, and the sale of four Doggie Devotionals.
On the fifth day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me a pleasant, rain-free commute to Seaside; great accommodations at Hi-Tide Motel, including an ocean-view room with a fireplace; and a Doogers’ bowl of clam chowder.
On the sixth of Christmas, my True Love gave to me gorgeous 99% perfect weather; friendly companions at the small table in the motel’s breakfast room; and a safe drive to Cannon Beach and back. (The weather would have rated 100% had it been 20 degrees warmer. But hey, it’s December!)
On the seventh day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me more gorgeous, 99% perfect weather; a safe return trip to Portland; and a delicious Spaghetti Factory meal.
On the eighth day of Christmas, my True Love gave me a blissful, quiet afternoon with a Yule log burning on the TV; soft jazz playing in the background; a chance to write a post; and an opportunity to tutor Lilly.
What did True Love give to you during His birthday season?
Joy from you, my friend.
See you Monday.
Yes, as always, anticipating our writers’ meeting. Smiles to you.
That all sounds so wonderful! I’m so happy you got out of dodge for a few days, with good weather even, to relax and enjoy. We too were on the coast for Christmas; my boss and wife have a huge mini mansion in Longbeach, WA that we stayed at from 12/21 to 12/26; it was the first Christmas my mom and all 3 siblings were together in I can’t even remember how long; years! AND the weather didn’t disappoint us either although we did see lightening on Christmas evening. See you soon! Nancy
It was good to see you on Saturday morning. Our group was small, but the conversation was informative and delightful. Thanks for the NYC photo; so glad that you two went. Love you, Linda
Very clever and creative, Linda! (I’ll have to ponder the 8 Days of Christmas and what would fit appropriately into the song.)
Food for thought–not that you need anything else to think about. Have fun and let me know what you come up with. Love, Linda
more time with Sammy while you enjoyed your days of Christmas.
You are so generous with your time and energy with dear, little Sammy. I really appreciate you and thank God for you. You are one of His best presents to me. I need to talk with you about Sam’s Cushing’s Disease. Phone me when you can. With his insistence to leave when I come to get him, that’s not the time to talk. Love, Linda
Nicely done Linda. You continue to be blessed and your accounts to us encourage us too!!
Solid encouragement, Tom, thank you! Have you perhaps read Doggie Devotionals yet? You can find it on Amazon or at Book Baby Bookshop. An E-book is $2.99 at both sites. The print version will be released in a couple of weeks for $9.99. Of course, you could get it for me at author’s discount of 25%. So good to hear from you.
Linda, I rejoice to read of your meaningful Christmas season. “The Lord daily loads us with benefits.” Oh, how true. And as we step into 1026, we can be sure that “HIS plans for us are for good and not evil.” PTL. And let’s be watching for HIS surprises of joy. Forever love, Shirley
I love your words and heart, Shirley. They come just a couple hours after I heard from my computer guru that he had a bad car accident on his way to work on New Years Day. His car was demolished, and he is badly bruised with lots of injuries. He had an operation today on his abdomen. Actually, I was his English teacher 40 years ago. Without him, I would not have been unable to my blog off the ground. Please add Jeffrey to your prayer list. Thank you.
