Invitation: From Here and Now to There and Then
I glean my ideas for my weekly posts from everyday moments.
For instance, I was walking into the sanctuary at Resurrection Lutheran Church, facing the front wall which is 50% glass, showing off the spectacular color of changing trees outside, and a word bubbled up from memory and stuck.

BLISS!
A simple definition given by Webster: complete happiness. Complete = body, soul, spirit, mind. Everything in and about me was happy. Bliss was mine throughout the service, in and out of Winco, and to my laptop as I wrote this.
One reason for this burst of bliss was the fabulous music that welcomed the congregants and beckoned them to completely worship.
The energetic music is a regular backdrop to the worship services at RLC (1700 NE 132nd Avenue in Portland). And it will be a vital part of the talent show next Sunday (11-16) after church, beginning about 11:30 and going until one o’clock.
It will include original poetry, stand-up comedy, and a devotional from a break-out book. There will be singing and dancing, thanks and tributes, and a surprising ending!
All of it will reflect the essence of resurrection, of life after sorrow and good-bye, of hope, of God keeping his promise to return, to restore, and to redeem.
So, come if you can. Bring a contribution for the potluck feast, and come away from the scary changes and turmoil, the fear-causing here and now and join in a resurrection of hope in the then and there!!

I have seen that lovely woodland-view window, and other than some stained glass windows I’ve seen, I think this is my favorite of all church windows.
Wow! Your comment says a lot; I appreciate it. Thanks!
