From Sorrow to Joyous Challenge
Amazing how quickly sorrow can change to joy–all in a week’s time!
My last post centered on Bella’s disappearance. For two days, Rick and Kat truly mourned.
Then on Saturday, the hot topic in the house was less about Bella and more about purchasing a pair of kittens. Several possibilities were found in an online search. On Sunday evening, a decision was made.

Monday found us motoring west to Preston, two hours from Crofton. There Kat purchased two female, ragdoll kittens, seven weeks old. Here, in Rick’s walker, they pause from their energetic play. Sandy is on the left and Luna on the right.
As to be expected, they scamper, romp, and tumble. Typical of the breed, they are very affectionate.
Tuesday while eating my breakfast, who should I see at the deck door? BELLA! I rushed to open the door for her. Rick was overjoyed. Kat was notified at work by WhatsApp; and she came home as soon as she could to give Bella her welcome.
We imagined Bella saying, “I leave home for six days, and this is what happens?!
Here she overlooks Luna in her bed. She tolerates the kittens very well. Sometimes she bats them with sheathed claws. Is she playing or reprimanding them?

This is Sandy asleep on Kat’s lap.
These two new additions to the family will really test Kat’s physical strength after I leave in two weeks. Daily, she will have to clean their litter pans and feed and water them twice a day besides going to her job and caring for Ian.
But they bring needed joy into the home with all their carefree antics. While Kat works 10 and 12-hour shifts, all three cats will be company for Ian. Someday, when life takes another inevitable turn, they’ll provide continued joy for Kat.
