Salt in Cyberspace
As I posted five days ago, the second week of February had been very busy for me. My post of 2-15 ended with the item: “submitting a devotional to Cascade Christian Writers’ Contest.”
Finally, two hours before the deadline, I submitted “The Ultimate Mirror Ball.” (After the judging period, I will post it here.) As a devotional, the submission needed a Bible verse. So, looking for one, I came across Psalm 145:5 in the Passion Translation: Your magnificent splendor and the miracles of your majesty are my constant meditation.
Magnificent splendor and miracles of your majesty reflect accurately the nature of a ball covered with facets of mirror, spinning in the dark under focused lights, sparkling, sublime, and spirit-lifting.
Standing under a mirror ball, I am entranced by the thousand points of light dancing across all surfaces. However, my gaze is divided between the reflections and the rotating ball that produces them all. My ponderings in that moment are covered by the Psalms’ words: my constant meditation.
I found these appropriate words at the end of a busy week, recovering from a cold and a stye and full of the frustrations produced by a hacked email account.
I had been advised to change my email address. My previous address, believer56, recalled the fact that I became a true believer in Christ in 1956. In Matthew 5:13, Jesus says, Your lives are like salt among the people (Passion Translation). It seemed to me that believer56 was a bit of salt in cyberspace.
I hate to give it up.
But my new email address–ps.1455@outlook.com–continues this small, spiritual foray into the monstrous cyberspace. ————–Hmmmm———–there’s a seed for book there.
I appreciate the insight, Linda. As much as I love observing what this world has to offer, enjoying and analyzing what it all means, I can sometimes get lost in the dividing of my gaze between the sparling lights around me and the object creating them all. Jim Mc
I am glad to connect with you and to have your input. Though I wrote about my divided gaze, I didn’t expect it to be anyone’s particular comment. So, thank you for sharing your specific view. I look forward to any further comments from you.
