I Flew Away

Author:

I flew from Portland on KLM Airlines, the oldest in the world, begun in 1919. The flight was pleasant with helpful seatmates, tasty food, and a wide variety of films. However, it departed an hour late.

Katie and Ian had left their home to get me at 7 in the morning, but they had to wait four hours. At last, the long wait ended with hugs and kisses all around.

But alas, my checked luggage did not arrive with me. I was glad that I had included all medications and toiletries as well as a change of clothes in my carryon luggage. So, I managed well until my baggage was delivered the following afternoon.

Katie and I played Scrabble and watched the first episodes of the fifth and final season of All Creatures Great and Small—really good and highly recommended.

I end this second posting with an introduction to my dog, Sammy. He is my God-given muse, inspiring the Doggie Devotionals that I hope will be published in 2025. Most of the following is from that manuscript.

.         Like a toddler, Sammy has simple needs, wants, and preferences. He cannot communicate with speech, but he does his best with sharp barks and soft growls. He looks to me for his daily provisions, discipline, direction, and affection.  Providing for Sam’s needs shows me the sort of relationship that I have with my heavenly Father…Abba…Creator…   GOD. I–a finite mortal, who cannot compare with His strength and holiness, must submit to Him who is unimaginably infinite and powerful.  Likewise, Sammy must submit to me.
