And Now . . . the “Baby”

The title of last week’s post was “Blog, Book, and Baby.”

Two astute readers wondered, “Where’s the baby?”

It is the second half of a name.

BookBaby is the self-publishing company founded in 2011 that I am using to publish Doggie Devotionals.

Its roots reach back to the 1940’s when its name was Disc Makers, “a company dedicated to manufacturing records for independent artists.”

80 years later, BookBaby “provides a comprehensive, professional publishing experience with professional editing, high-quality printing, expert design, and full distribution support” for writers.

After a book is written, it is highly advisable to have it edited by a professional editor several times before submitting the manuscript to an agent or a publishing company.

My manuscript was professionally read and critiqued three times. That editor suggested that I contact BookBaby, which I did this past spring. Since my first contact, I have been working with Sierra Edwards, Senior Publishing Specialist.

The process of three stages seemed daunting at first. But with Sierra’s guidance, two stages are completed.

However, Doggie Devotionals has been both inspired and provided by the Almighty. How He has made this crooked place straight makes me laugh, and I think that I know how Sarah felt in Genesis 18 felt.

(You know, 89-year-old Sarah laughed when she overheard a heavenly stranger telling Abraham that she would give birth within a year! Ha! What a miracle that was!)

Remember that a few posts ago I wrote of damage to my car. Well, as of Wednesday the car is repaired. Today, Friday, I received and deposited the insurance company’s settlement. In four days, next Tuesday, the funds will be released.

Then I will pay for the car and complete the final publishing stage!!

Hopefully, Doggie Devotionals  will be released for sale in September.

Next week, read more about its publishing process.
